According to EA CFO, Eric Brown, it will be a long time before we see any new game consoles out there on the market. He said this is primarily because of the fact that the current consoles out there are so advanced, that it will take a long time to create new technology and implement it into a new console.

The PS3 and xBox 360 are supposed to have a shelf life of about 10 years- meaning we shouldn't expect to see upgrades for over 10 years. However, the article mentioned the Wii, in which we may see a newer edition before 10 years.
